Reports are coming in from various parts of Tamilnadu that trains are being stopped. Chennai - Bangalore Shatabdi express seems to have been stopped somewhere near Tiruvallur junction for more than 4 hours now by DMK party cadres. DMK is the main opposition party in Tamil Nadu.
In a dramatic protest, hundreds of students and youths blocked a Coimbatore-Nagercoil passenger train in Madurai on Thursday afternoon, demanding an immediate revocation of the ban on conducting Jallikattu. The train that was stopped at around 2:30 p.m. was halted for more than five hours despite several top revenue and police officials trying to negotiate with the protesters. Reports are suggesting many supporters are from political parties with flags.
Thousands of passengers were stranded at Dindigul railway station on Thursday night as the southern railway canceled two passenger trains and diverted all Chennai-bound express trains from southern districts through Manamadurai and Tiruchi owing the train blockade by a section of Jallikattu supporters in Madurai.
One protestor on Facebook made a sensible appeal "I request all my brothers and sisters not to involve in any kind of activities which disturbs public.... lets be a good example for the next generation And rest of the world... if you do so then the politicians will corner us easily.... if you need a fruitful and healthy Tamilnadu..."
Hope sense and sensibility prevails and political parties do not hijack these organized peaceful protests using their traditional disruptive ways.
